Industrial Revolution: Beginnings & Workers Rights
Introduction:
Do you have
a part-time job? Will you expect to have one soon or in college? If so, how
much do you think that you will earn? As a high school student, most employers
will only offer you minimum wage. Today’s society has various minimum wage laws
while members are Congress are lobbying for the minimum to go higher in coming
years. What if you didn’t earn the minimum wage? What if there weren’t any laws
to protect your rights as a worker? Certain rights and laws are set in place
today because of the history that the labor force has taken. We will learn
about and analyze the different conditions and chain of events that occurred
during the Industrial Revolution that eventually led to workers rights, minimum
wage, and reparations in case of work related injuries.
